October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and remind women about the importance of early detection. Mammograms are an important part of women’s healthcare — they can help find breast cancer early, when it’s easier to treat and before it’s big enough to feel or cause symptoms.
At NPVMC in Saratoga, we’re proud to offer advanced breast imaging with the Senographe Pristina 3D digital mammography unit. This state-of-the-art technology provides superior diagnostic accuracy while maintaining one of the lowest patient radiation doses of all FDA-approved digital breast tomography systems.
In short, you get the best imaging available — in the safest way possible.
How much does a mammogram cost?
In most cases, insurance covers the cost of a mammogram as part of a wellness exam if it has been more than 365 days since your last one.
Several financial resources are also available for NPVMC patients to help cover the cost of mammograms and breast cancer treatment.
The Corbett Medical Foundation (the fundraising arm of NPVMC) helps support NPVMC patients through its Mammogram Fund (for uninsured NPVMC patients), Komen Cancer Fund (for secondary diagnostics for NPVMC patients such as biopsies and ultrasounds), and Chip in for Cancer Fund (for expenses related to travel for NPVMC patients to receive cancer treatment).
